What Holy Communion? Remembering Jesus whenever we dine Daily communion with Jesus never meant as a sacrament only ever as a holy togetherment Never ever it was about bread, or wine but remebering Jesus whenever we dine Going to Him just as we are, is wha He desires It’s false piety which Jesus so profusely despises! Jesus’ last supper never was a passover meal! Following is in short the sequence of events during Jesus’ passion: INTRODUCTION Jesus, who is God, has worked out His whole Plan to the tee, with every action in its proper time. Jesus, the ultimate Teacher, was obedient to His Father and humble to the end. He left behind the most profound lesson for all of us to learn - OBEDIENCE in HUMBLENESS. As the King of Kings in human form, He showed the world what a carnal king must be like. But, alas, such a carnal king the world has yet to find and Him being the heavenly King, the world has still to recognise. Philippians 2:5-8 “ 5  In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: 6  Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7  rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8  And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! ” - New international Version Jesus washed the twelve’s feet on Wednesday evening, including the feet of Judas Iscariot, as Jesus still regards Judas as being part of Him, because He loves Judas as the others. John 13:5 “After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and dry them with the towel that was around Him.” - Berean Standard Bible John 13:8 ““Never shall You wash my feet!” Peter told Him. Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with Me.”” - Berean Standard Bible Take note, Jesus washed the feet of His disciple on Wednesday, and NOT on the ‘Holy Thursday’ as the day deliberately commemorated by the Catholic church for centuries. Jesus loves Judas and still cherishes this disciple as being part of Him, since Jesus Himself was the One who had Judas do what he did, and, what’s more, for you and me to have eternal Life, no matter who you are, reading here! This is TRUE Christianity! To read the Bible with the agenda to seek the Truth, is to find the Truth. To read the Bible, avoiding verses that don’t resonate with you, is never to find Truth in this world at all. Jesus’ last supper was on Wednesday at twilight, BEFORE the day of preparation, which is day 14 th of Nisan and the day before the Sabbath of rest. Exodus 12:5-6 “ 5  Your lamb must be an unblemished year-old male, and you may take it from the sheep or the goats. 6  You must keep it until the fourteenth day of the month , when the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel will slaughter the animals at twilight . ” - Berean Standard Bible Judas was entered by Satan and betrayed Jesus with a kiss after supper and at Gethsemane, i.e. after sunset on the 14 th day of Nisan, Thursday “the day of preparation”, to fulfil prophesy. This was the night BEFORE the Feast of Unleavened Bread. So, Jesus’ last supper was NOT a Passover meal at all. John 13:27 “And when Judas had taken the morsel, Satan entered into him. Then Jesus said to Judas, “What you are about to do, do quickly.”” - Berean Standard Bible Matthew 26:49 “Going directly to Jesus, he said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed Him.” - Berean Standard Bible Jesus was taken to Caiaphas, the High priest. Matthew 26:57 “Those who had arrested Jesus led Him away to the house of Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and elders had gathered.” - Berean Standard Bible Early Thursday morning Jesus was taken by the Jewish leaders to the palace of the Roman Governor for trial. They didn’t enter the palace, as it was the reparation day for Passover and they still wanted to eat the Passover meal before sunset, when Passover started. John 18:28 “Then the Jewish leaders took Jesus from Caiaphas to the palace of the Roman governor . By now it was early morning, and to avoid ceremonial uncleanness they did not enter the palace, because they wanted to be able to eat the Passover .” - New International Version Pilate handed Jesus over to the Jewish crowd. John 19:6 “As soon as the chief priests and officers saw Him, they shouted, “ Crucify Him! Crucify Him !” “You take Him and crucify Him,” Pilate replied, “for I find no basis for a charge against Him.”” - Berean Standard Bible John 19:14 “ It was the day of Preparation for the Passover, about the sixth hour . And Pilate said to the Jews, “Here is your King!”” - Berean Standard Bible Jesus, being the Ultimate Passover Lamb, was crucified on Thursday noon, the 14 th day of Nisan and died about 3 p.m. on that “preparation day for Passover,” before the passover meal. Matthew 27:50-54 50   When Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, He yielded up His spirit. 51  At that moment the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth quaked, and the rocks were split. 52  The tombs broke open, and the bodies of many saints who had fallen asleep were raised. 53  After Jesus’ resurrection, when they had come out of the tombs, they entered the holy city and appeared to many people. 54  When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified and said, “Truly this was the Son of God.”” - Berean Standard Bible The barrier between God and humanity was destroyed. All people from then on obtained direct access to God through Christ! Prophesy was fulfilled and a New Covenant of GRACE replaced the old. No rituals and no sacrifices anymore! Hallelujah! Jesus was buried before sunset on Thursday, the 14 th day of Nisan. John 19:31 “It was the day of Preparation , and the next day was a High Sabbath. In order that the bodies would not remain on the cross during the Sabbath , the Jews asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies removed.” - Berean Standard Bible Jesus’ bones were not broken, just as was prophesied. John 19:33 “But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs .” - Berean Standard Bible Jesus was resurrected after three days and three nights, on Sunday, the 17 th day of Nisan and NOT on the Monday. Matthew 12:40 “For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” - Berean Standard Bible Jesus first appeared before Mary Magdalene early on Monday morning. Mark 16:9 “ Early on the first day of the week , after Jesus had risen, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom He had driven out seven demons.” - Berean Standard Bible Jesus then appeared before His disciples on Monday evening. John 20:19 “It was the first day of the week, and that very evening, while the disciples were together with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them. “Peace be with you!” He said to them.” - Berean Standard Bible Back to Jesus’ last supper. After the sequence of events above, it’s clear that Jesus had His last supper with His disciples during the late afternoon of Wednesday, the 13 th day of Nisan , being an ordinary meal with no lamb and no unleavened bread. He did this for a reason, replacing the old with the new, changing what was to be for the family in every household, into a new family structure, family being His disciples! What was to be an annual-obligatory ceremonial event of commemoration before, He changed into an ordinary daily event of nourishment, Him being the focus (not the consumed, btw)! Jesus didn’t ask for much, only remembering His act of grace for all , once a day! 1 Corinthians 11:23-25 “ 23  For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night He was betrayed, took bread , 24  and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 25  In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me .”” - Berean Standard Bible There was no roasted lamb present and no unleavened bread either. The bread Jesus broke was ordinary leavened bread ( #740 - ἄρτον (arton )). The Greek for Unleavened bread is ἀζύμων (azymōn) - #106. The first day of the feast of unleavened bread was only on the 15 th day of Nisan , making the preparation day for Passover to be the 14 th day of Nisan and therefore Jesus was crucified as the Passover Lamb on the 14 th day of Nisan . So, Jesus’ last supper was on the 13 th day of Nisan . Nisan is the first month of the Jewish calendar year. Since the Feast of unleavened bread has not taken place yet, the bread on Jesus’ table was leavened. On the 14 th day of Nisan , Jesus was to fulfil the law of Moses, making all its ordinances null and void! However, In spite of the powerlessness of the Mosaic law now, it was not abolished, but kept solely as a means of making people aware of their sin ONLY and NOT to justify them before God anymore. Romans 3:20 “Therefore no one will be justified in His sight by works of the law. For the law merely brings awareness of sin .” - Berean Standard Bible Christs abolished all feasts and rituals forever! Colossians 2:14 “having canceled the debt ascribed to us in the decrees that stood against us. He took it away, nailing it to the cross!” - Berean Standard Bible What else are rituals other than obligational ceremonial actions, rooted in the decrees of God in Moses’ time? Likewise, what else are observing special days and feasts other than being rooted in these decrees of God as well, like the Feast of unleavened bread for instance? Oh, how cunning can the devil get? 2 Corinthians 2:11 “in order that no advantage be taken of us by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his schemes.” - NASB 1977 Satan is known for forcing God’s Word into the opposite, in this case, KEEPING the ordinances Christ has abolished with His death, in order to sustain slavery. And what is his easy bait? Humans innate hunger for personal power and therefore holding fast on addictive rituals as outward signs of ‘measuring up to righteousness’! What else are rituals other than having the focus on the self? He keeps the human race compelled with rites and rituals, as these are exciting and way more appealing than the ‘boring doing nothing’ in the grace of Christ! And where is the BEST place to exercise this successful stunt? The so-called ‘Christian church’, having picked the Roman Catholic church as first choice, only to carry it forward with the Reformed Protestant church. Where is a perfect example of Satan having given the so- called ‘Christian’ church its desperate, but successful attempt, to keep the feast of unleavened bread alive? In Matthew 26:17 down below. The interpretation of the scribes here was deliberately distorted, to make it seem that Jesus’ disciples approached Him on the first day of the feat of unleavened bread, therefore using their sneaky interpretation as ‘proof’ of Jesus indeed keeping the feast of unleavened bread. But to no avail, as there are those who didn’t fall into Satan’s trap, those in the True Christ, those whom Satan fears. The 15 th day of Nisan was still to come and that after the very next day, i.e. Thursday the 14 th day of Nisan , the day of preparation for Passover. Jesus did away with ALL feasts, yet Satan did not! See the fiddled-with verse below: Matthew 26:17 On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?”” - Berean Standard Bible We only need to unravel the first part of this verse to see if they indeed approached Jesus on the first day of the feast of unleavened bread, Τῇ δὲ πρώτῃ τῶν ἀζύμων προσῆλθον οἱ μαθηταὶ τῷ Ἰησοῦ λέγοντες Ποῦ θέλεις ἑτοιμάσωμέν σοι φαγεῖν τὸ πάσχα; - Westcott and Hort 1881 My transliteral English version from Westcott and Hort 1881: “But before the unleavened feast the disciples approached Jesus” Compare the adjective “before” (#4413) in Matthew 26:17 above with the adverb “before” (#4412} in John 15:18 below. You, Catholic- and Reformed ‘Christian’, what does Holy Communion really mean to you? Does taking part in the “Holy Communion” ceremony of your respective Catechism really give meaning to your life? Does a Sunday morning homily give you self- esteem? Does it make you understand the world around you better? Does it give you the insight why things happen as they do in your daily life, taking a lot of stress off your shoulders, especially when you are involved? Or does it in effect only serve as a ritual, giving you an hour long feeling of ‘being part of’, but not really giving you answers to your questions about life in general? Does taking the Eucharist host from a priest’s hand, or the bread morsel from a silver plate help you build a relationship with Christ ? What makes you so sure that your feeling of Jesus’ ‘close proximity’ through props like rosaries, monstrances, prayer cards, iconographies and commercial gospel concert podiums, is real and not self-imposed indoctrination? Using external resources for connection with Christ is not only in vain, but the breeding ground for addiction. Christ is Spirit and you can NEVER experience Him with any tangibles! Through His sacrifice at Golgotha, He also secured your connection to Him, whoever you are. If He’s not the Christ you were taught, then seek Him! Because only HE knows you like no other. Only He cares for you like no other and only He loves you like no other! When you seek Him, you’ll find Him. The moment you find Him, acknowledge Him and are Baptised in Him, that moment your life will unfold like never before! IT IS COMPLETED! John 19:30 “When he had received the sour wine, Jesus said, "It is completed !" Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.” - NET Bible What is Jesus saying also to you? Matthew 5:48 “ Be      perfect , therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” - New Revised Standard Version The standard interpretation of “ Be perfect ” in this verse is virtually always along the line of “you must be perfect”, denoting an order from Christ how to be. Fact is, it’s NOT an order from Christ for us to behave perfect at all. It’s just beyond absurd to even think we can out of our own effort EVER become perfect like God. We can ONLY be perfect upon His declaration of that. In this verse above, Jesus unequivocally says that you already are perfect in His eyes. So, if you are perfect in His eyes, then who are you to disregard it, simply because you yourself don’t regard yourself as being perfect? This is clearly proof of success religion has had on you, with its rhetoric of you forever having to do something, instead of receiving the grace of Christ. It’s manipulation to secure control, to secure your membership. Jesus’ new Covenant is ALL about grace! Just accept this grace and see for yourself what THIS will do for your self-esteem and inner peace in this hostile world. Experiencing it is the key. You’re good enough for Christ and that’s enough! Get your authenticity back. Catechisms are precepts of fallible men. Christ lives in you. Believe He saved all and seek Him! Then approach HIM in everything and see what happens. You’ll never need props again to feel His Presence. Holiness is NOT the Catholic-induced solemnity at all, but the radiance of a merry heart, with humour that even Jesus couldn’t resist. Remember the Pharisees who most probably suffered from constipation? You know the blind ones who swallowed the camels in Matthew 23:24 ? How can anyone be perpetually sad, knowing that one is already set aside for Christ and at the same time free to be oneself before Him every second, day and night? The only perpetual adoration of Christ is to mimic HIM in all. And to mimic Him, you have to know Him and to know Him you have to talk to HIM, instead of priests and saints. May Christ open your eyes! He’s waiting for your call!
