Abraham’s Faith – What Faith?

Genesis 15:3-6 3  And Abram said, "You have given me no children; so a servant in my household will be my heir.“ 4  Then the word of the LORD came to him: "This man will not be your heir, but a son who is your own flesh and blood will be your heir." 5  He took him outside and said, "Look up at the sky and count the stars--if indeed you can count them." Then he said to him, "So shall your offspring be.“ 6  Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness.” - New International Version Genesis 17:17 “Abraham fell facedown; he laughed and said to himself, "Will a son be born to a man a hundred years old ? Will Sarah bear a child at the age of ninety ?"” - New International Version Hebrews 11:19 “Abraham reasoned that God could even raise the dead , and so in a manner of speaking he did receive Isaac back from death.” - New International Version What is Abraham’s faith in God doing the ‘impossible’? Abraham BELIEVED God’s PROMISE to him… against all odds in both cases! Abraham TRUSTED God to be a Keeper of His promise and because of THAT God counted Abraham into righteousness. Abraham did not know Jesus then. Abraham only knew God the Father, because he resorted under the first Covenant . Romans 4:3 “for what doth the writing say? 'And Abraham did believe God, and it was reckoned to him -- to righteousness;‘” - Young’s Literal Translation Romans 4:3 “τί γὰρ ἡ γραφὴ λέγει; Ἐπίστευσεν δὲ Ἀβραὰμ τῷ θεῷ, καὶ ἐλογίσθη αὐτῷ εἰς δικαιοσύνην.” -Westcott & Hort 1881 #4100 - Root word: Πιστεύω - pisteuó Definition: to believe; to entrust #1518 - Definition: into ‘Christian’, you who believe in everlasting damnation, in light of Abraham’s faith, how on earth can you say that you too believe God’s promise to Abraham? Since when can eternal damnation be reconciled with God’s blessing? All nations are promised God’s blessing… irrespective of their faith ( Genesis 22:18 ). However, discipline awaits unbelievers, but ultimate grace for all stays intact beyond the pit-stop of correction. May God open your eyes.
