What is Biblical Faith?

It is the trust in all the promises of the God of the Bible. Hebrews 11:8-11 8  By faith Abraham, being called to go out into a place that he was going to receive for an inheritance, obeyed and went out, not knowing where he is going. 9  By faith he sojourned in the land of the promise , as in a foreign country, having dwelt in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the joint- heirs of the same promise . 10  For he was awaiting the city having foundations, of which the architect and builder is God. 11  By faith also Sarah , herself barren, received power for the conception of seed, even beyond the opportune age, since she considered the One having promised faithful.” - Berean Literal Bible These four verses above clearly portray that the faith of both Abraham and Sarah was embedded within their trust in God’s promises to them. Faith is ALL about trust . Both of them also regarded God, the Promise Maker , to be trustworthy (faithful) . Very important to notice here is the fact that obedience occurred after faith, as a result of faith… not the other way around. Obedience was an action of Abraham following his faith . James 2:17-22 17  So too, faith by itself, if it does not result in action, is dead. 18  But someone will say, “You have faith and I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. 19  You believe that God is one. Good for you! Even the demons believe that—and shudder. 20  O foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is worthless? 21  Was not our father Abraham justified by what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22  You see that his faith was working with his actions, and his faith was perfected by what he did.” - Berean Study Bible Also worth mentioning are two other subsequent outcomes as a result of faith in God. Firstly, in verses 9 and 10 Abraham’s endurance is illustrated and secondly, in verse 11, power was given to Sarah upon her trust in God… a power beyond the scope of normalcy… the power to conceive at the age of ninety. Obedience to God , endurance for God and power in God are the three accompanying- and validating characteristics of one’s faith in the God of the Bible. The promise of God to Abraham Genesis 22:18 “And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice."” - King James Bible Galatians 3:16 “The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture does not say "and to seeds," meaning many people, but "and to your seed," meaning one person, who is Christ .” - New International Version Pastor, ‘Christian’, can you say that you have entered God’s rest, through obedience ? And by the same token, have you entered God’s rest through your belief in an everlasting hell of condemnation? Hebrews 4:6 “Since, then, it remains for some to enter His rest , and since those who formerly heard the good news did not enter because of their disobedience ,” - Berean Study Bible Hebrews 3:19 “So we see that it was because of their unbelief that they were unable to enter.” - Berean Study Bible In the event of you positively answering these two questions, how would you then justify that amidst all the enmity, malice, competition, envy, backstabbing, division, etc. that are so evident in your community and church all over the world? Do you have inner peace, Pastor? Do you have inner peace, ‘Christian’? Can you say that you have endurance for God in your trials? Do you resort to ‘side-effect-saturated’ pharmaceutical drugs as ‘quick fixes’, rather than resorting to God’s medicine and patiently trust His natural products’ healing process ( Proverbs 3:6 ; Mark 5:26 ; 1 Corinthians 3:17 )? Do you endure your trials for God with your eyes fixed upon His promise of eternal glory ( Romans 8:18 )… like Paul? James 1:12 “Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him.” - Berean Study Bible 2 Timothy 3:5 “having a form of godliness but denying its power. And turn away from these.” - Berean Study Bible Pastor, ‘Christian’, do you defend your doctrine of eternal hell with vigour and chutzpah out of love for Christ, or out of fearmongering… forcing people to follow you with fear of an ‘eternal hell’? Are you among the ‘Christian’ multitude in the world today, who plainly avoid any discussion with someone who is courageously defending Jesus’ unlimited achievement around the salvation of all humanity? Do you have the courage to do what Hans-Joachim and Willien are doing here… sticking their bare necks out for the Christ of the Bible to challenge a ‘Goliathical’ hostile world of ‘eternal-hell-believing-Christians’, facing opposition left, right and center as two little ‘Davids’ in the armour of Christ with the pebble of Truth? See, Pastor, ‘Christian’, you do not need to, simply because you have a like-minded and oblivious audience by their billions, who is complacent just as you are… being no doctrinal threat to you at all. In utmost rare cases such as this, but in upfront- and personal confrontation, do you [classically] act unresponsively, or highly reactive by means of anger and affront? In such cases, who is the fearful and who is the fearless? Who has the power… the challenger, or the challenged? It goes without saying. To conclude… The promise of the God of the Bible with regard to ALL the nations on the world Genesis 22:18 “And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice."” - King James Bible Galatians 3:16 “The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed . Scripture does not say "and to seeds," meaning many people, but "and to your seed," meaning one person, who is Christ .” - New International Version Pastor, ‘Christian’, you who believe in eternal hell, do you believe (trust) the promise of God to all the nations on the world above? Do you obey God’s new commandment (below) with your actions of love embedded in Christ , BECAUSE of your faith in His promise to Abraham in Genesis 22:18 His promise of all nations on the world being blessed? I’m afraid not. You cannot deny that the nations of Islam, the nations of Hinduism, the nations of Buddhism, etc. are part and parcel of this promise, however much their faith to be ultimately perfected by Christ ( Hebrews 12:2 ) into the Biblical faith. John 13:34 “A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you also must love one another.” - Berean Study Bible May God open your eyes… and quickly. Jesus’ coming is around the corner!
